When Murder Motel closed its doors after one final escape attempt, we said goodbye to one of Wakefield’s oldest and most popular escape rooms. It left a big question hanging in the air: what would come next?
September brought the announcement we had all been waiting for: The Tavern. Now, with bookings open, it’s time to gather your team and prepare to step into Otto’s world.
An old inn. A hidden inheritance. A challenge from Otto.
The alehouse has been run for years by everybody’s favourite innkeeper, Otto. But the dull ache in his knees and the heaviness in his bones warn him that his time behind the tap is drawing to an end.
With no heir to take over, Otto refuses to let his life’s work fall into the hands of a greedy magistrate or an idle stranger. He has something rather different in mind for the future of his beloved tavern.
He has concealed the original deeds and left a single notice above the fireplace:
“Whoever can retrieve the hidden deeds can take ownership of the inn, the cellar, and every barrel in it.”
The challenge is set. Can you find the deeds, stake your claim and rename the infamous tavern as your own?
Who will claim The Tavern?
This is more than a search for a piece of paper. In Otto’s story, those hidden deeds hold the future of a place he has spent years calling his own. The inn, the cellar and every barrel are all part of the prize — if your team can rise to his challenge.
For now, the team at Enigma Rooms Wakefield are keeping the rest firmly under wraps. We won’t spoil what lies ahead, but that little glimpse of the story has certainly left us eager to discover more.
