Are you new to escape rooms? Here’s what to expect and a few tips!
Before your game.
Check your booking email! Most escape rooms will ask you to arrive 10-15 minutes before your booking time, this is to go through the health and safety brief with you and explain how everything works, so always check if you need to be there early.
While there’s no specific clothing requirements, remember that some games may require you to get down on your hands and knees, so you may want to wear something comfortable that you can move around in.
If you’ve never played an escape room before, the brief can be very important. The games master will show you how to use padlocks that you will come across in the game, as well as any specific rules for the game that you are about to play. This is also the perfect time to ask any questions you may have!
Inside the room.
Look everywhere! We often like to hide clues in the rooms, have a good look round, under things, inside things for any clues or items that might be useful. (You won’t need to break or force anything)
Communicate with your team. If you find anything that could be a clue, let everyone know, they might have seen something that it could be used with.
If you are stuck on a puzzle, get the rest of your team to take a look, they might spot something you haven’t! If you are having trouble with a padlock, get someone else to give it a go. Always check your math!
Ask for a clue! If you are really stuck and have tried everything, don’t be scared to ask for a clue! Your games master will give you a push in the right direction.
Stuck on a puzzle? Try these: Have another team member check your working out or your idea. Check around the room to make sure you haven’t missed something. Have someone else try to enter the code. See if there’s anything else you can solve first, you might not have all the clues to the puzzle.
