Step into a magical world as you are welcomed into the spellbinding bar with a drink from the founder of the Twisted Broom, Amgine Thorncloak. Then take a seat (ensuring you are abiding by our dress code – Cloaks should be worn, don’t worry if you forget yours, we always have spares.) You’ll have a few minutes to soak in the atmosphere before you receive your ingredients for your first potion. Your host will also provide you with a step-by-step guide, and potion book so you know exactly what you’re doing. However, should you misunderstand, or need extra advise, you can always wave your wand in the air to summon your potion master.
Once you have made your first potion, you will be able to enjoy the tastes and see if any after effects come your way, frog features? Extra limbs? or did you brew it perfectly?
You will then receive your second batch of ingredients for your next potion, and the process begins again.

Our Magical Inspiration
At Twisted Broom, we’re lifelong fans of things like Harry Potter and the wider Wizarding Worlds. It was this love of magic and storytelling that inspired us to create our very own enchanted universe at Enigma Rooms in Doncaster.
In our story, former flying champion Amgine Thorncloak and his wife Mary dreamed of a haven where witches and wizards could gather in peace. Retiring from flying sports, Amgine and Mary built a place where magical folk could share a brew, debate counter-curses, or even trade dragon eggs and mermaid scales — all safely hidden from the eyes of non-magic folk.
The Twisted Broom was founded nearly 400 years ago, during a time when witches and wizards were forced into secrecy after the hardships of the Middle Ages. Today, we carry that legacy forward, welcoming all who seek a touch of magic and mystery, and to learn some of Amgine’s very own potion recipes.

Note: Potions can be made with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic ingredients. The Twisted Broom enforces the Challenge 25 rule. If you are lucky enough to look under the age of 25, you will be asked for ID. If ID is not presented, then you will only be allowed to brew non-alcoholic potions.

Cocktail making in Doncaster, or if you are underage, flying or just unable to drink alcohol, then we have mocktail making too (you tell us upon arrival). Potion Making in Doncaster is a self guided immersive experience. You’ll get a cauldron, some unique ingredients, and step-by-step instructions written by one of Doncaster’s famous potion masters, Amigne Thorncloak. You’ll create two delicious cocktails/mocktails with a magical twist, surrounded by the spellbinding setting that is, The Twisted Broom in Doncaster.
There isn’t an age limit, but we do recommend the Potion Making Classes for ages 8+ as they do involve following instructions carefully and a little bit of concentration. Obviously, the bar offers soft drinks as well as alcoholic ones, and we do practice the Challenge 25 rule for alcohol.
There is no real limit. We can cater for most group sizes for all activities. For larger groups, best to call and book in advance.
The Twisted Broom is located on our first floor and is only located by stairs. We cannot guarantee that any allergies will be catered for, but if you contact us BEFORE booking, we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.
No, but sort of yes. Just like any bar, there may be other people at other tables doing different activities. Your activity is unique to your booking group, and you wont be making potions with strangers, drinking tea with random guests, or sipping a Dragon Punch cocktail with someone you haven’t met before.
The Twisted Broom does have a kitchen. Magical Afternoon Tea is available when booked in advance, and Enigma Rooms Doncaster is starting to roll out lite bites over weekends. Feel free to contact us for more information.
